To educate the public about the risks of sharing seemingly innocuous personal details with would-be scammers. This information needed to be delivered within the context of Santander launching its annual initiative to raise awareness of some of the most common scams.
We teamed up with Paul Wilson, scam expert and presenter of the BBC TV show The Real Hustle. Together we devised a heist-like scenario set in a shopping centre, which we rigged with hidden cameras and fake display stands. The resulting footage was shot via a combination of Go Pros, a spy camera inside a clipboard, and traditional cameras hidden inside shopping trolleys and luggage bags. Everything was swiftly edited into a slick 2 minute promo (and a shorter social media cut) which received wide media coverage and generated lively social media debate.
